Marcia E. Williams, CFA

President, Chief Executive Officer & Director

 

Marcia Williams is founder and president of Independence Trust Company. She oversees all aspects of the company and directly participates in the investment management and business development activities of the firm.

 

Prior to forming ITC, she served as senior portfolio manager at First American Trust where she managed the equity income fund, headed the equity team, and served on the investment policy and closely held business committees. She began her career at J.C. Bradford & Co. serving first in their asset management department and later managing the retirement plan administration division.

 

A Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA), Marcia has served as director of the global Financial Analysts Federation and as president of the Nashville Society of Financial Analysts. Her work has been published in the Nashville Business Journal, CFA Digest, and ISFA Digest. She serves on the City of Franklin Pension Committee and as past-president for the Twenty-first Drug Court, Inc.

 

She received her B.S. in math from Emory University, Atlanta, GA where she became a member of Phi Beta Kappa. A Harold Sterling Vanderbilt Fellow, she received an M.S. in math from Vanderbilt University.

 


 

Marshall L. Bartlett

Senior Vice President

 

Marshall Bartlett joined Independence Trust Company in 2005 as vice president in charge of investments. In this role he oversees portfolio management, trading, and other investment functions for the firm's clients. This includes serving as lead manager for the firm's dividend growth portfolio.

 

Marshall received his B.S. in economics and business administration from Vanderbilt University. He received an M.B.A. from the Massey School of Business at Belmont University. He concentrated his studies on finance while achieving his M.B.A., including classes on mutual fund analysis, stock and bond valuation, and option pricing. A member of the Beta Gamma Sigma honor society, he was voted most outstanding student by his peers.

 

Prior to joining Independence Trust Company, Marshall was a service manager for Aspect Communications, responsible for maintaining the company’s premier client relationships and managing a team of fifteen employees.

 


 

Philip B. Nannie

Senior Vice President - Head of Administration

 

Philip Nannie returned to Independence Trust Company in May 2007 after having been with the company in the late 1990's. He heads the administration department, responsible for account management and client service, and also handles key client relationships.

 

Philip has close to twenty years of experience in the financial service industry including trust administration, estate planning, tax law, and business development. He has worked as a journalist for the Nashville Business Journal, covering banking, finance, entertainment and real estate. Moreover, he was the founder of The Blake Agency, which was created to help individuals, businesses and non profits with effective marketing, public relations and business development strategies.

 

A native Nashvillian, Philip serves on the board of Restore Ministries, a division of the YMCA, and volunteers with various non-profits. He received a B.A. degree in political science and history from Harding University in Searcy, Arkansas and a M.Ed degree from Trevecca Nazarene University.

 


 

Todd A. Turner

Assistant Vice President

 

Todd Turner joined Independence Trust Company in 2005 as trust officer and account administrator. In this role he works with key trust and investment clients to oversee all aspects of their relationship with the firm.

 

Prior to joining Independence Trust Company, Todd was a financial consultant with Charles Schwab & Co., providing advice and support to their top tier clients. He also worked for A.G. Edwards and Sons, Inc., and John Hancock Financial Services, Inc., and has experience in areas of risk analysis, investments, taxes, retirement planning and estate planning.

 

A graduate of Austin Peay State University, Todd is an Accredited Asset Management Specialist (AAMS) and a Registered Para-Planner (RP), and has additional educational experience in law, trust administration and financial planning.

 


 

Cindy Foree

Trust Officer

 

Cindy Foree joined Independence Trust Company in April of 2008 as a client relationship manager and administrator. She works closely with our cemetery and funeral home clients to oversee all aspects of their relationship with the firm.

 

Cindy comes to ITC with 15 years of administrative and operations management experience in the cemetery and funeral home industry. She maintains an active role in the industry, serving as the executive director of the Cemetery Association of Tennessee since 1995 and previously as the executive director of the Southern Cemetery and Funeral Association for two years.

 

She is a past president of the Cemetery Association of Tennessee, holds an associates degree in Business Management, is a 2004 recipient of the ICFA Women's Forum – ICFA University scholarship, and received a declaration from the Tennessee State House of Representatives in 2006 for her work with state legislators, state regulators and the cemetery industry in rewriting the laws governing cemeteries in Tennessee.

 

Cindy’s work in the cemetery and funeral industry has given her extensive insight and practical knowledge regarding cemetery and funeral trust service, providing our clients with valuable assistance in meeting their trust needs while ensuring regulatory compliance.
